Pres. Marcos Jr. reintroduces ‘Love Bus’ with a new electric fleet to enhance Metro Manila commuting

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. launched the new, modernized “Love Bus,” a fleet of electric buses aimed at providing Metro Manila commuters with a safe, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation option. The revived service, an homage to the iconic 1970s program, will help reduce traffic congestion, air pollution, and daily travel burdens.

Speaking at the launch at the Valenzuela Gateway Complex, President Marcos highlighted the program’s benefits. “This new fleet of electric buses will significantly help reduce pollution and fuel costs,” he said. “It’s a huge help for our situation in Metro Manila, where waiting times are long, traffic is heavy, and we are constantly exposed to exhaust fumes.”

The 20-bus fleet will service various routes throughout the metro, with free rides for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens. President Marcos also announced that students will soon receive a 50-percent discount on fares. As part of the launch celebration, all rides on the new Love Bus will be free for everyone throughout the entire month of September.

The President recalled the original Love Bus, a project initiated by his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, during her time as governor of Metro Manila. He noted that the original program was one of the first to make public transport more accessible and affordable.

President Marcos expressed his gratitude to the Valenzuela City government for hosting the launch, praising the leadership of the Gatchalian family. “We chose Valenzuela because I know that if any city can make this program a success, it’s the brave leaders here,” he stated.

The event was attended by notable officials, including Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Valenzuela 1st District Representative Kenneth Ting Gatchalian, Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie Gatchalian.
