Cokaliong Shipping Lines welcomes sister vessels Filipinas Jagna and Filipinas Surigao del Norte to its fleet

Cokaliong Shipping Lines, Inc. (CSLI), one of the country’s leading shipping companies, proudly announces the addition of two sister vessels to its growing fleet: M/V Filipinas Jagna and M/V Filipinas Surigao del Norte.

Both ships were acquired from Heartland Ferry Co. Ltd. of Japan, further strengthening CSLI’s commitment to providing safe, comfortable, and reliable sea travel to Filipinos. The vessels share a rich maritime heritage and are designed to deliver dependable service to passengers and cargo alike.

The M/V Filipinas Jagna (Vessel No. 11 in the CSLI fleet) was originally built in 1997 by Japanese shipbuilders under the name Eins Soya. After nearly two decades of distinguished service in Japan, the vessel joined the Cokaliong fleet in 2016, where it was renamed in honor of Jagna, a coastal municipality in Bohol.

Her sister ship, the M/V Filipinas Surigao del Norte, was built in 1999 and previously sailed as Avrora Okushiri. The vessel officially entered service with CSLI in 2017, continuing the company’s tradition of honoring key Philippine provinces and cities through its vessel names.

Each vessel we acquire represents not just an expansion of our fleet, but also a reaffirmation of our mission to connect communities and strengthen maritime transport in the Philippines,” said Alexander Cokaliong, Chief Executive Officer of Cokaliong Shipping Lines. “The Filipinas Jagna and Filipinas Surigao del Norte exemplify the quality, durability, and service excellence that our passengers have come to expect.”

As sister vessels, both ships share design efficiencies and operational strengths, making them valuable additions to CSLI’s fleet modernization program. Their introduction underscores the company’s ongoing efforts to invest in world-class vessels that ensure safe voyages across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

With the entry of these vessels, Cokaliong Shipping Lines continues to strengthen its role as a trusted bridge across the seas, carrying with it a legacy of service excellence and Filipino hospitality.

Founded in 1989, Cokaliong Shipping Lines, Inc. (CSLI) is a Cebu-based shipping company that operates passenger and cargo ferry services across the Visayas and Mindanao. With a modern and expanding fleet, CSLI is committed to safety, service excellence, and nation-building by connecting people and goods across the Philippine islands.
