Montenegro Shipping Lines opens new route between Lipata, Surigao, and St. Bernard, Southern Leyte

Montenegro Shipping Lines Incorporated (MSLI), one of the leading shipping companies in the Philippines, officially announced the launch of its new passenger and cargo route connecting Lipata, Surigao City, and St. Bernard, Southern Leyte. The new route, which commenced operations today, September 18, 2025, will be serviced by the company’s state-of-the-art Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) vessel, M/V Reina Urduja.

This new route is a strategic move to enhance economic and commercial ties between the two key regions. It will provide a more efficient and direct link for passengers, rolling cargo, and commercial goods, thereby promoting trade and tourism.

“We are excited to launch this new route, which directly responds to the growing demand for improved connectivity between Surigao and Southern Leyte,” said a representative from Montenegro Shipping Lines. “The M/V Reina Urduja is a reliable and modern vessel, and we are confident that this new service will significantly benefit local economies and make travel more convenient for everyone.”

The launch of the Lipata-St. Bernard’s route follows MSLI’s recent expansion of its services with the opening of the Castilla, Sorsogon–Lipata, Surigao route. This route, which caters exclusively to rolling trucks and cargoes, is serviced by the company’s LCT vessels, M/V Reina Zadia and M/V Binibining Dumaguete.

The addition of these routes highlights Montenegro Shipping Lines’ commitment to expanding its network and providing critical logistical support across the Philippine archipelago.
