Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL), in a coordinated effort with the Lucio Tan Group, government agencies, and private sector partners, has successfully airlifted nearly 20 tons of critical humanitarian cargo to residents affected by the recent earthquake in Cebu.
The bulk of the donation, totaling 19 tons, consisted of 3,000 three-liter water containers generously contributed by the Lucio Tan Group and Asia Brewery Corporation. Additionally, the Philippine Red Cross donated 654 kilograms (0.654 tons) of essential supplies, including quick response hygiene kits and psychosocial kits.
The entire operation, from collection to delivery, was facilitated and managed by the PAL Foundation, Inc., the airline’s corporate social responsibility arm, working closely with the dedicated PAL Cargo teams in Manila and Cebu to ensure the orderly transport of the vital aid.
“Philippine Airlines stands in solidarity with the people of Cebu during this challenging period and remains steadfast in its commitment to providing support where it is needed most,” a PAL representative stated.
PAL will continue to extend urgent assistance to fellow Filipinos affected by the recent quake. These humanitarian missions will be undertaken within the capabilities of the airline’s available aircraft, alongside its regular flight schedules.
