The World Trade Organization (WTO) has published a comprehensive, updated edition of its legal compendium, consolidating all of the organization’s foundational agreements into a single volume.
Titled The WTO Agreements: The Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization and its Annexes, the new edition serves as the definitive reference for the WTO’s legal framework, replacing and updating the 2017 version.
This crucial update includes, for the first time, the text of the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies, which officially entered into force on September 15, 2025. This landmark agreement is a key outcome of the WTO’s multilateral negotiations, aimed at curbing harmful subsidies that contribute to overfishing and overcapacity.
The volume brings together the complete text of the 1994 Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization and its Annexes, incorporating all amendments and additions through September 2025.
Other significant texts included in this edition are:
-
The Agreement on Trade Facilitation (TFA), entered into force in February 2017.
-
An amendment to the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement), which entered into force in January 2017.
-
The amended Government Procurement Agreement (GPA), which replaced the 1994 GPA for all parties as of January 2021.
-
An amendment to the Trade Policy Review Mechanism (July 2017).
Ensuring Accessibility to the Legal Framework
