In a bold move to redefine maritime and technical education, Northern Central Mindanao College (NCMC) officially signed a landmark Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation (FastCat) and the Alliance of Philippine Seafarers & Transporters Integrated Inc. (APSTII).
This tripartite alliance establishes a direct “classroom-to-career” pipeline, ensuring that NCMC students receive industry-standard training and guaranteed pathways to employment within the Philippine maritime sector.
The partnership focuses on synchronizing academic curricula with the real-world operational demands of modern seafaring. By integrating FastCat’s industry-leading standards and APSTII’s advocacy for seafarer welfare, the collaboration aims to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but are also “essential” assets to the global workforce.
Key highlights of the agreement include:
Enhanced Internship Programs: Students will gain hands-on experience aboard FastCat’s state-of-the-art catamaran vessels.
Curriculum Alignment: Industry experts from APSTII will consult on academic modules to ensure theory matches current market needs.
Direct Recruitment Pathways: Qualified NCMC graduates will be prioritized for placement within the FastCat fleet and associated maritime networks.
“This collaboration is more than just a formal agreement; it is a promise to our students,” said a representative of Northern Central Mindanao College. “We are moving beyond theoretical instruction to provide a direct pipeline into the industry. This ensures our graduates are not just looking for jobs—they are ready to lead them.”
A spokesperson for FastCat added, “Partnering with institutions like NCMC allows us to cultivate a workforce that understands our technology and our commitment to safety and efficiency from day one.”
