Travelers passing through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) can now experience a faster, more seamless journey with the introduction of state-of-the-art biometric immigration e-Gates. Located in Terminals 1 and 3, these automated gates allow eligible passengers to clear immigration in as little as 20 seconds using advanced facial recognition technology.
The initiative is part of a broader commitment by the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp (NNIC) to modernize the country’s main gateway, reduce queuing times, and enhance the overall passenger experience.
Key Features of the New e-Gates
-
Rapid Processing: High-speed facial recognition reduces manual document checks, clearing passengers in seconds.
-
Cutting-Edge Technology: Powered by Amadeus, a world leader in travel technology, ensuring global standards of efficiency.
-
Strategic Partnership: Operated by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to maintain strict border security.
-
Zero Public Cost: The project is fully funded by NNIC, meaning no additional costs to passengers or the Philippine government.
To ensure a smooth transition, the Bureau of Immigration is implementing the e-Gates in a phased approach. Eligibility currently depends on passport type and the integration of specific airline systems:
| Phase | Direction | Eligible Travelers |
| Phase 1 | Arrivals | All Philippine Passport Holders |
| Phase 1 | Departures | Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) with Philippine Passports |
Passenger privacy remains a top priority. All biometric data captured at the e-Gates is handled, processed, and stored exclusively by the Bureau of Immigration. Data management is conducted in strict accordance with Philippine government security protocols and the Data Privacy Act.
