BOI Facilitates Cooperation between PDDC and FAES under ENVEST Platform

With an aim to bridge quality education with responsible and sustainable businesses, the Board of Investments (BOI) facilitated the ceremonial signing for the Commitment of Undertaking between Philippine DCS Development Corporation (PDDC) and Filinvest Alabang Elementary School (FAES).

The cooperation is under the Educational Investment (ENvest) Forum, which is a platform connecting academic institutions with private sector enterprises, mainly BOI-registered enterprises, to collaborate on projects and programs to improve learning spaces, infrastructure and access to education for deserving youth. Notably, ENvest taps the Corporate Community Partnership for Development (CCPD) Program of registered firms such as the PDDC.

Cognizant of its environmental responsibility, PDDC has committed to the installation of solar panel systems within the compound of FAES to provide renewable power for the school’s operations. PDDC, with its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable corporate practice, will assist FAES from the installation of the solar panel systems and related accessories to the capacity building of FAES personnel for the safe operation and maintenance of the solar power generation facility.

FAES embraced the partnership, underscoring the significant role of collaboration as they advocate for equitable quality education and life-long campaign for environmental stewardship.

BOI Energy Division Chief Dr. Rose Marie Mendoza, in her opening remarks, emphasized the importance of harnessing renewable energy and transforming idle spaces into productive assets that create long-term value. Dr. Mendoza pointed out that the BOI is always committed to provide support and facilitate partnerships that will deliver mutual gains to the energy industry and the education sector.

BOI recognizes that the education sector is one of the avenues that each private company must consider to ensure that the youth of the future will continue the passion and the drive to take care of the environment, empower each other and establish businesses that do not only focus on financial returns but also human capital development and environmental conservation, which are the major pillars of sustainability.

PDDC General Manager Jonathan Urbano outlined the company’s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, underscoring its role in helping organizations optimize energy use. He emphasized that one of the many roles of the private sector is to ensure that environmental preservation and social justice move forward together with economic progress and development.

FAES School Head Zyra Trimidal thanked the BOI and PDDC, emphasizing that the newly established partnership is a shared commitment to the vision and mission for quality education and environmental stewardship. According to her, the proposed solar power facility will not only allow the school to contribute to renewable energy and energy conservation efforts of both the school and the government but also in installing continuous experiential learning for students in terms of energy security, responsible consumption and sustainable business.

In the first quarter of 2026, PDDC and FAES will sign a more binding agreement to confirm and implement the project. FAES reaffirmed its commitment to providing PDDC with all the support to realize the installation of the very first solar power facility in an elementary school in Muntinlupa City.

The BOI upholds its commitment to advancing sustainable, socially relevant investments that support education, renewable energy adoption, and inclusive development. This is in line with the government’s broader goal of fostering long-term economic growth and community resilience.
