SM Prime expands regional footprint with flagship SM Nuvali development in Laguna

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) announced the continued expansion of its regional portfolio with the development of SM Nuvali, a flagship shopping and lifestyle destination in the fast-growing city of Santa Rosa, Laguna. Scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, SM Nuvali will be the fifth—and largest—SM mall in the province, reinforcing the company’s strategic push beyond Metro Manila.

The project marks a significant milestone in SM Prime’s long-term growth roadmap. “SM Nuvali represents the first of five flagship malls we intend to launch annually from 2026 to 2030,” said Jeffrey C. Lim, President of SM Prime. “This underscores our strong confidence in high-growth regional markets and our commitment to developing integrated, future-ready destinations that deliver sustained economic value.”

Designed as a premier, sustainability-driven development, SM Nuvali will incorporate environmentally responsible features into both its construction and day-to-day operations. These include solar panel installations, water recycling systems, and energy-efficient lighting solutions that will support more than 82,000 square meters of gross leasable space.

In line with SM Prime’s sustainability agenda, the mall will also feature 24 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, a “Trash-to-Cash” recycling initiative, and a dedicated e-waste collection facility—further encouraging environmentally conscious practices among tenants and visitors.

Beyond retail, SM Nuvali is envisioned as a lifestyle and community hub that complements the eco-conscious Nuvali estate. The development will include expansive non-retail areas such as open-air promenades, landscaped green zones, and curated lifestyle spaces designed to promote leisure, wellness, and community engagement.

“We believe SM Nuvali will bring meaningful and lasting value to the Nuvali estate,” Lim added. “Through its experiential offerings and diverse tenant mix, the development is expected to stimulate local economic activity, generate employment opportunities, and attract further investments into the region.”

A key highlight of the development is a one-hectare, air-conditioned indoor garden featuring family-friendly amenities such as playgrounds and a paw park, alongside nature-inspired attractions like Sky Pods. The mall will also house premium dining concepts and a wide array of global retail brands.

Enhancing its position as an integrated destination, SM Nuvali will be directly connected via a bridgeway to the upcoming Park Inn by Radisson hotel and the SMX Trade Hall, both being developed by SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation. Additionally, the NV Towers—an office development under SM Offices—is currently underway, further strengthening the site’s mixed-use ecosystem.

Upon completion, SM Nuvali will become SM Prime’s 91st mall nationwide. The investment forms part of the company’s broader strategy to allocate capital toward high-growth regional centers, where rising consumer incomes, improved infrastructure, and expanding urbanization continue to drive demand for integrated retail, lifestyle, and leisure developments.
