The Bureau of Customs (BOC), together with the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), uncovered suspected counterfeit imported footwear worth an estimated ₱700 million during an inspection of a warehouse in Imus City, Cavite on 03 August 2026.
The BOC launched the operation after the PNP-CIDG Cavite Provincial Field Unit provided intelligence information on the alleged presence of imported goods suspected to be in violation of customs and intellectual property laws. Acting swiftly on the report, the BOC issued and implemented a Letter of Authority (LOA) and deployed a composite enforcement team to inspect the subject warehouse.
The composite team consisted of personnel from the Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Port of Batangas, CIIS Port of Manila, CIIS-MICP, Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), and Legal Service, alongside representatives from the PNP-CIDG Cavite Provincial Field Unit, PNP Imus Component City Police Station, and the Philippine Coast Guard.
During the inspection, Customs operatives found footwear bearing trademarks such as Adidas, On Cloud, New Balance, Asics, Crocs, Nike, Jordan, Puma, Converse, Skechers, and Louis Vuitton (LV). The goods were valued at approximately ₱700 million, based on the initial inventory and valuation.
Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno thanked the CIDG and partner agencies for their timely intelligence support and close coordination.
“Sa ngalan ng Bureau of Customs, nagpapasalamat tayo sa CIDG at sa iba pa nating partner agencies sa kanilang mahalagang impormasyon at pakikipagtulungan. This shows the value of strong inter-agency cooperation in preventing illicit goods from reaching the market and protecting the interests of Filipino consumers and legitimate businesses,” said Commissioner Nepomuceno.
The operation supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen border protection, combat smuggling, and promote fair trade.
