Mitsubishi unveils Outlander PHEV plug-in SUV

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) launched the Outlander PHEV today, the company’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle for the local market. MMPC says the Outlander is the top-selling PHEV in Japan’s SUV segment.

“The All-New Outlander PHEV is MMPC’s new SUV flagship model,” said Ritsu Imaeda, MMPC president and CEO. “It will be available through authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealerships nationwide starting August 20, 2026.”

The Outlander PHEV pairs a 2.4-liter MIVEC gasoline engine with two electric motors, one on each axle. Combined output reaches 306 PS and 450 N·m of torque. MMPC rates the total driving range at close to 1,000 kilometers, with 100 kilometers on battery power alone.

Drivers choose among four EV modes: Normal, Save, Charge, and EV Priority. The SUV charges through an AC Type 2 connector, the standard already in use at Philippine charging stations. Without access to a charger, it runs as a hybrid, drawing on the gasoline engine.

MMPC built the Outlander PHEV around its Super All-Wheel Control system, or S-AWC. The system links twin-motor four-wheel drive with active yaw control, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and traction control.

Seven drive modes are on offer. Normal, Eco, and Power cover daily driving while Tarmac, Gravel, Snow, and Mud adjust power delivery and traction for different road surfaces.

Standard safety features, grouped under the Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing suite, include forward collision mitigation, blind spot warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and driver attention alert.

The exterior carries Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield front fascia, full-LED lighting, and 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels. MMPC added steel to several body panels, a change the automaker says reduces wind and road noise inside the cabin.

Inside, the Outlander PHEV uses light gray leather seat trim and a panoramic sunroof. A 12.3-inch touchscreen runs wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and is paired with an eight-speaker Yamaha sound system. The SUV also includes a Smart Rear-View Mirror, a head-up display, triple-zone climate control, and eight-way power seats with memory settings, heating, and ventilation for the driver and front passenger.

MMPC set the suggested retail price at P2,848,000. Buyers who reserve or take delivery between August 20 and September 30, 2026 pay P2,749,000. The Outlander PHEV comes in three colors: White Diamond, Black Diamond, and Red Diamond.

Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide began taking orders for the Outlander PHEV today.
