Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet commends Philippine peace process and human resource development

In a bilateral meeting at Malacañang on Tuesday, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised the Philippine government’s initiatives in peace processes and human resource development. Hun Manet lauded President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the Philippine government’s efforts in maintaining peace and acknowledged the significant contributions of Filipinos in Cambodia to socioeconomic progress.

“I appreciate the Philippines’ contributions to our peace process and human resource development in both civilian and military sectors,” Hun Manet said. “We also recognize the vital role of the Filipino community in our socioeconomic progress.”

The Cambodian leader highlighted the extensive cooperation between the two nations, which spans multiple sectors including defense, security, trade investment, economy, and people-to-people exchanges. “We are keen on elevating our collaborations to new heights,” he stated.

Hun Manet noted the 68 years of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and the Philippines, emphasizing collaborations that extend beyond government-to-government interactions. He described the friendship between the two countries as enduring, with historical ties tracing back to 1872 when the late King Norodom visited the Philippines. “Over the decades, our relationship has flourished, built on mutual respect and shared interests,” he said.

Hun Manet expressed confidence that his visit to Manila, his first, would foster a stronger and more dynamic partnership between Cambodia and the Philippines.
