BOC chief Rubio honored as Asia’s Golden icon leader for Customs excellence
Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio has been recognized as one of Asia’s most influential leaders, receiving the prestigious Asia’s Golden Icon Leader Award 2025. This accolade celebrates his exceptional leadership and transformative impact on customs administration.
The award, presented at a ceremony in Manila on February 28, highlights Commissioner Rubio’s vision and dedication to driving significant reforms. His leadership has been pivotal in modernizing trade processes, strengthening border security, and achieving record-breaking revenue performance in 2024, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas vision.
“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Bureau of Customs team,” Commissioner Rubio stated in his acceptance speech, dedicating the honor to the BOC’s workforce.
Under his guidance, the BOC has prioritized digitalization, policy reforms, and enhanced enforcement, resulting in streamlined trade facilitation and aggressive anti-smuggling campaigns.
