Ginebra San Miguel posts P2.1 billion Q1 2025 net income, up 11% year-on-year

Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI), the spirits business of San Miguel Corporation, announced a robust start to 2025, with first-quarter net income reaching P2.1 billion, an 11% increase year-on-year, despite a more challenging market environment.

Consolidated revenues for the first quarter climbed to P16.3 billion, an 8% rise from the same period last year, while operating income also improved by 8% to P2.5 billion. Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) for the quarter stood at P2.8 billion, up 11% over the prior year.

This strong performance builds upon GSMI’s impressive track record of continuous growth over the past 11 years. In 2024, GSMI achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 50 million cases sold for the first time, solidifying its larger share of the local liquor market. Full-year sales revenues in 2024 reached P62.5 billion, a 17% increase from 2023. Income from operations also saw a substantial rise to P8.6 billion, up 26% from the previous year. The company concluded 2024 with a record net income of P7.3 billion, a 3% increase over the prior year. Excluding a one-time income from the sale of Don Papa’s rights in 2023, net income would have increased by 23%.

GSMI attributes its robust first-quarter performance to the continued success of its strategic marketing initiatives. The “Ginstanalo sa One Ginebra Nation” national consumer promotion played a key role in sustaining the popularity of its flagship brand, Ginebra San Miguel, among core drinkers and maintaining growth for Vino Kulafu. Strong brand equity and effective market strategies have been consistent drivers of the company’s success.

The “Lamang ang May Tapang” campaign, launched in 2024, resonated well with consumers and contributed to an 8% boost in Ginebra San Miguel sales. This year’s marketing campaign, “Kabayani Kita Sa One Ginebra Nation,” aims to further deepen the connection between consumers and the iconic flagship brand.

“Our spirits business, Ginebra San Miguel Inc., has demonstrated remarkable strength over the years, even in the face of various challenges, including the global pandemic,” said Ramon S. Ang, GSMI President and CEO. “The company’s over a decade-long growth trajectory clearly shows the wide appeal of our brands and the company’s overall resilience and strength.”

GSMI is the proud producer of the world’s largest-selling gin, Ginebra San Miguel. Its diverse portfolio of quality distilled spirits also includes GSM Blue Light Gin, GSM Blue Mojito, GSM Blue Margarita, GSM Blue Gin Pomelo, GSM Blue Lychee Martini, Ginebra San Miguel Premium Gin, 1834 Premium Distilled Gin, Archangel Reserve Premium Dry Gin, Antonov Vodka, Freedom Island Light Rum, Primera Light Brandy, and the Philippines’ no. 1 Chinese wine, Vino Kulafu.
