Airbus has reinforced its long-term commitment to the Philippines’ aviation sector, projecting the country as one of the world’s fastest-growing air transport markets over the next two decades. Speaking at the Philippine Aviation Summit 2025, Anand Stanley, President of Airbus Asia Pacific, emphasized that accommodating this growth sustainably requires deep partnership, fleet modernization, and dedicated sustainability initiatives.
Mr. Stanley highlighted that this period of rapid expansion drives a critical need for airlines to reduce their environmental footprint, a goal achievable through the adoption of new-generation, highly efficient aircraft. Airbus, as a leading provider of commercial and defense products and services, is dedicated to supporting the Philippines in meeting these rigorous operational and environmental requirements.
Deepening the Strategic Partnership
The Philippines’ relationship with Airbus extends far beyond aircraft procurement. The country serves as a vital key supply chain partner for the global aerospace giant, with local companies actively producing and supplying complex components for Airbus aircraft, including its flagship long-range leader, the A350. This manufacturing collaboration underscores the Philippines’ strategic importance and its growing capabilities in the global aerospace supply chain.
“The future of aviation in the Philippines is incredibly bright, and the momentum we are seeing requires a holistic approach to growth—one that prioritizes sustainability and local partnership,” said Anand Stanley. “The Philippines is not just a customer; it is an invaluable strategic partner, playing a crucial role in the production of our most advanced aircraft, such as the A350.”
Accelerating Sustainability and SAF Adoption
Airbus is actively working with local partners on critical sustainability-related topics to accelerate the decarbonization of the sector. A major ongoing effort is a Philippines Feasibility Study on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), commissioned to support the National Biofuels Board. This study provides crucial data and analysis needed to establish a viable SAF value chain within the country.
The feasibility study is currently undergoing final review, and its publication is eagerly anticipated by industry stakeholders, as it is expected to pave the way for accelerated SAF adoption in the region.
Aligned with National Vision
Airbus’s commitment spans three core pillars: training, digitalization, and decarbonization. These efforts are fully aligned with the Philippine government’s ambitious vision to transform the nation into a leading aerospace player in the region.
Airbus is excited to continue fostering this comprehensive partnership to ensure the Philippines’ dynamic aviation growth is both prosperous and sustainable for the decades to come.
