DMW launches OFW Travel Pass, digitizing exit documentation and streamlining services

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced the official launch of the OFW Travel Pass, a new digital exit document that replaces the traditional Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC). This initiative is a direct response to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to accelerate the digitalization and streamlining of all government transactions.

The OFW Travel Pass is set to revolutionize the way Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) manage their documentation, making the process faster, more efficient, and significantly more convenient.

“This is a major step forward in our commitment to serve our modern-day heroes better,” said a DMW official. “The OFW Travel Pass eliminates the need for physical paperwork and long queues, embodying the Bagong Pilipinas spirit of efficiency and digital innovation in public service.”

A Simplified Digital Experience

The new digital pass will serve as the unified documentation and exit pass for all departing OFWs. The process for obtaining it has been drastically simplified:

  1. Mobile Access: OFWs only need a mobile phone or similar smart device.
  2. Download and Register: Download the eGOVPh application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  3. Follow the Steps: Follow the straightforward registration and information steps within the application.

With the OFW Travel Pass, processing time for exit documents is reduced, allowing OFWs to focus on their preparations rather than bureaucratic hurdles. This digital transformation makes the documentation process more practical and accessible, especially for those in remote areas or who are on tight schedules.

The DMW encourages all returning and newly hired OFWs to utilize the eGOVPh platform immediately to experience the benefits of this streamlined service. Further details and a step-by-step tutorial are available on the official DMW website.
