Philippine Airlines (PAL) confirmed that it has completed the mandatory software upgrade for its fleet, ensuring full compliance with the recent directive issued by Airbus and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) concerning the Elevator and Aileron Computer (ELAC).
The upgrade has been meticulously applied to all PAL aircraft scheduled to operate commercial flights covered by the regulatory directive.
PAL’s technical and engineering teams mobilized immediately following the issuance of the directive, working swiftly to implement the required software updates within the prescribed timeframe. This timely action underscores the airline’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability across its operations.
“Our technical and engineering teams executed this critical task swiftly and meticulously to ensure the continued integrity and reliability of our aircraft systems,” a PAL spokesperson stated. “Prioritizing the highest standards of safety is always paramount, and we are proud to have achieved full compliance rapidly.”
With the essential safety measure now fully implemented, PAL’s immediate focus is on rapidly normalizing flight schedules. The airline continues to coordinate closely with all relevant aviation authorities and airport partners to minimize any remaining operational impact and restore full schedule reliability.
“We sincerely thank our valued passengers for their extraordinary patience, understanding, and continued trust as we implemented these essential safety measures,” the spokesperson added. “We are now fully focused on returning to normal operations at the soonest possible time.”
