In a decisive move to safeguard the nation’s digital sovereignty, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officially announced the establishment of the Philippine Association of Cybersecurity Assessment Providers (PACAP).
The formation of PACAP comes as a direct response to the increasing frequency of cyber threats targeting government agencies and critical infrastructure. Under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to cultivate a secure and trustworthy digital ecosystem, this association serves as a unified front against malicious actors threatening national data and public trust.
A Unified Force for Digital Resilience PACAP integrates the expertise of the DICT Trusted Assessment Providers (DTAP) and Accredited Cybersecurity Posture Assessment Laboratories (CPAL). By consolidating these specialized entities, the DICT aims to standardize cybersecurity protocols, enhance monitoring capabilities, and ensure rigorous accountability across all government digital projects.
“The digital economy cannot thrive without a foundation of security,” said the DICT. “With PACAP, we are not just reacting to threats; we are proactively building a fortified environment where every project yields concrete, secure results.”
Securing the Democratic Process Beyond infrastructure, a primary focus for the association will be the protection of national election systems. By leveraging elite cybersecurity assessments, PACAP will work to ensure the integrity of the ballot, maintaining the public’s faith in the democratic process.
The Spirit of ‘Digital Bayanihan’ The establishment of PACAP embodies the spirit of Digital Bayanihan—a collaborative framework where the government and private sector join forces to defend the country’s digital future. This partnership ensures that the Philippines remains resilient in the face of evolving global cyber risks.
Through PACAP, the DICT reaffirms its commitment to a “Bagong Pilipinas” that is digitally inclusive, technologically advanced, and, above all, secure.
