Leading the nation’s 124th Labor Day celebrations, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived in General Santos City on Friday to spearhead a massive nationwide job fair initiative and announce a significant boost to the country’s employment landscape.
During a keynote address at the KCC Convention and Events Center, the President revealed that the administration’s aggressive investment-led growth strategy has secured nearly ₱2 trillion in approved investments. This capital influx is projected to generate approximately 150,000 new jobs for Filipinos across various sectors.
“Our goal is decent work for every Filipino,” President Marcos stated. “This is why I am streamlining the investment process in our country—to increase the number of available opportunities. Last year, we approved nearly two trillion pesos in investments, which will create nearly 150,000 jobs.”
Beyond investment figures, the President highlighted the success of the government’s grassroots employment programs. Since July 2022, the administration has conducted over 6,600 job fairs nationwide. These events have successfully facilitated the employment of more than 1.5 million job seekers, with over 250,000 individuals hired on the spot (HOTS).
To coincide with Labor Day festivities, the President launched a synchronized job fair series across 94 locations throughout the Philippines. These fairs, which will remain active through the end of May, offer a combined total of over 150,000 immediate vacancies.
