Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon S. Garin officially welcomed the inauguration of the Isla LPG Corporation’s Leganes Plant in Iloilo, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of regional energy infrastructure and the strengthening of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply security for Filipino consumers.
Boasting a substantial 1,400-metric-ton storage capacity, the newly opened facility is set to drastically enhance LPG storage, cylinder filling, and distribution networks across Panay Island and the wider Western Visayas region. This critical addition to the local energy landscape ensures a more reliable, accessible, and resilient supply of LPG for households, local businesses, and growing communities.
“Investments such as this help reduce logistical constraints, improve energy resilience, and reinforce the country’s preparedness against disruptions in the global energy market,” said the Department of Energy (DOE).
The establishment of the Isla Leganes Plant directly aligns with the DOE’s ongoing mission to regionalize and reinforce the nation’s energy infrastructure. By decentralizing critical supply hubs, the facility minimizes vulnerability to external supply shocks and logistical bottlenecks, ensuring that everyday consumers have uninterrupted access to essential energy resources.
