President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. confirmed on Friday that his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday is nearly complete, framing the annual speech as a direct report to the Filipino people on his administration’s accomplishments and ongoing efforts to navigate economic and social challenges.
Speaking to reporters following the inauguration of the Department of Health–Jose B. Lingad Children’s Medical Center in the Clark Freeport Zone, President Marcos emphasized the fundamental purpose of the address as an accounting of the government’s work over the past year.
“I always regard the SONA as a report of the President to the public as to what has happened since the last SONA, and that is what we will take up,” President Marcos said.
The Chief Executive noted that the upcoming address will outline how the administration has managed economic pressures and global challenges through targeted policy recalibrations.
“Our response has been good, and we have had to make adjustments. But those adjustments have been effective and have served their purpose, and I know that it has helped people weather this storm,” Marcos added.
Regarding the final preparation of the speech, the President shared that while the core draft is over 90 percent complete, he continues to refine the text to ensure complete accuracy and clarity up until the final hour.
When asked whether the speech would touch upon the corruption issues he highlighted in his previous SONA, President Marcos offered a concise preview: “Abangan ang susunod na kabanata” (“Stay tuned for the next chapter”).
The media briefing followed the official blessing and inauguration of the new children’s specialty hospital in Clark, a milestone project designed to bring advanced pediatric healthcare closer to communities outside Metro Manila.
President Marcos highlighted the facility as a prime example of successful public-private partnerships aimed at modernizing the country’s healthcare infrastructure and broadening access to specialized medical care nationwide.
