DOT elevates Philippine gastronomy with “Lasa at Likha: A chefs’ masterclass”

Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening Filipino culinary identity and advancing local gastronomy to globally competitive standards, the Department of Tourism (DOT) successfully hosted Lasa at Likha: A Chefs’ Masterclass on July 27, 2026.

Organized in partnership with the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) Manila, the intensive masterclass convened approximately 100 culinary professionals and restaurateurs representing all 17 regions of the Philippines. The event served as a premier platform for knowledge-sharing, skill refinement, and industry empowerment alongside Michelin-recognized culinary talent.

Highlighting the program was a live cooking demonstration by Chef Don Baldosano of Linamnam, recipient of the prestigious MICHELIN Guide Young Chef Award. The masterclass also featured panel discussions and lectures led by Michelin-awarded chefs, focusing on sustainable sourcing, service consistency, and the strategic integration of Filipino cultural identity into world-class dining experiences.

Beyond culinary arts, Lasa at Likha addressed the business side of hospitality. Industry experts delivered specialized sessions on restaurant branding, marketing strategies, and digitalization to help local entrepreneurs build resilient, scalable, and globally competitive food businesses.

This initiative follows the DOT’s recent partnership with the MICHELIN Guide earlier this month to host Asia’s first Michelin-curated chef-to-chef immersive masterclass—further solidifying the Philippines’ positioning as an evolving global culinary destination celebrated for both heritage and contemporary craftsmanship.
