The Department of Budget and Management (DBM), led by Acting Secretary Kim Robert C. De Leon, formally submitted the proposed PHP 7.2-trillion FY 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) to the Senate today.
Senate President Sherwin T. Gatchalian, Senate Finance Committee Chairperson Senator Joseph Victor G. Ejercito, and Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel F. Zubiri officially received the spending proposal, marking the transition of the budget process into the legislative phase for review and consideration.
Key highlights of the FY 2027 budget proposal:

Total Amount: PHP 7.2 trillion, representing 21.7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Budget Growth: A 6% increase compared to the FY 2026 national budget.

The formal submission to the Senate initiates a critical phase in the national budget legislation process. Lawmakers will now begin rigorous legislative review, scrutiny, and deliberation of the proposed appropriations to ensure public resources are authorized effectively and transparently for the upcoming fiscal year.
“This submission opens the floor for a comprehensive legislative examination, ensuring that every peso authorized serves the best interests of the public and drives sustainable, inclusive national development,” the DBM noted.
