The association identified recurring traffic bottlenecks around educational institutions across the metropolis, noting that academic year periods consistently intensify congestion on key corridors during morning and afternoon rush hours when student, employee, and commuter volumes intersect on shared transportation routes.
MDPPA mapped alternative and bypass routes for motorcycle riders navigating school-dense areas, including Katipunan Avenue, where Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College, and the University of the Philippines Diliman campus generate persistent traffic pressure. The guide recommends the Aurora Boulevard connector and C.P. Garcia Avenue as primary alternatives for riders seeking to circumvent the notorious Katipunan-Aurora intersection.
In the Ortigas-Greenhills corridor serving La Salle Green Hills, Xavier School, International Academy of Management and Economics, and Poveda Schools, the association identified Wilson Street, Annapolis Street, Eisenhower Street, and Club Filipino Avenue as viable detour options for non-stopping riders aiming to avoid peak-hour choke points along the avenue.
The Taft Avenue cluster encompassing De La Salle University, Colegio de San Benilde, St. Scholastica’s College, and UP Manila prompted recommendations for Osmeña Highway, Roxas Boulevard, San Andres Street, and Leon Guinto Street as parallel passages for riders bypassing the institutional concentration.
For the Intramuros educational belt hosting Mapua University, Lyceum of the Philippines, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, the guide suggests Ayala Boulevard, Roxas Boulevard, and Quirino Avenue as connectors that redirect traffic away from congestion at Padre Burgos Avenue’s school gate.
The University Belt areas covering Sampaloc’s UST-FEU-UE core and the Recto-Mendiola section with San Beda, Centro Escolar University, and La Consolacion College Manila received detailed routing alternatives including Lacson Avenue, Dapitan-Fugoso corridor, Concepcion Aguila Street, Lerma Street, Laong Laan Street, and Dos Castillas Street.
Additional zones covered include Santa Mesa’s Polytechnic University of the Philippines main campus area, Commonwealth-Batasan School Corridor near Batasan Hills National High School, Pasig City’s Rizal High School vicinity, Cubao’s Ramon Magsaysay High School hub on Aurora Boulevard, and Valenzuela’s Canumay East and Vicente P. Trinidad high schools along MacArthur Highway.
MDPPA members represent leading motorcycle manufacturers such as Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha. The organization advocates for road safety, regulatory compliance, environmental protection, technology, and innovation through consultations with industry stakeholders.
