Xavier School Nuvali has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to sustainability and leadership in renewable energy adoption, receiving the prestigious Excellence in Institutional Sustainability Award. Co-presented by SolX Technologies and the Department of Energy (DOE), the award celebrates the school’s significant strides in minimizing its environmental footprint through a newly installed rooftop solar energy system.
The award ceremony, held on January 27, 2025, coincided with the Switch-On Ceremony for the school’s 99kWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system. Comprising 190 panels and a single inverter, the system is projected to generate 140,185 kWh of clean energy annually. Over its 25-year lifespan, the system is estimated to mitigate the equivalent of 3,301 MWh in environmental impact, translating to a reduction of 2,458 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 1,046,780 gallons of gasoline, and 2,688,756 tons of coal.
The event drew distinguished guests, including Xavier School President Fr. Joseph “Jhaw” Y. Haw, SJ, Ed.D., Finance Officer Celia Tan, SolX Technologies Co-Founder Atty. Bradley Cua, project leads Robi Andres, ECE, PMP, Jeanuel Paje, RMEe, and Richard Julio, RMEe, and Marketing Lead Claudio Espiol. Representatives from Buskowitz Energy, including members of their Marketing Department and Operations and Sales Team, were also in attendance.
A message from DOE Director Patrick T. Aquino, CESO III, Energy Utilization Management Bureau, underscored the department’s strong support for Xavier School’s sustainability initiatives. “This project is more than just installing solar panels,” Director Aquino stated. “It represents our shared commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, conserving resources, and embracing innovative solutions to power our future. Every small step we take can lead to meaningful change.”
The symbolic Switch-On Ceremony, activating the solar PV system, was led by the Buskowitz Energy team. Antonella M. Dimaculangan, Project Head from Buskowitz Group, emphasized the significance of the occasion: “This ceremony isn’t just about switching on a solar PV system; it’s about committing to a sustainable future.”
Atty. Bradley Cua and Antonella Dimaculangan presented the award to Fr. Joseph “Jhaw” Y. Haw and other key stakeholders from Xavier School, along with the project leaders. Atty. Cua, also a Xavier School alumnus, expressed his pride in the school’s leadership in sustainability: “As an alumnus, it’s an honor to see Xavier School Nuvali take the lead in sustainability. Their commitment to renewable energy serves as a model for others, paving the way for a more sustainable future for all Filipinos.”
The collaborative effort between Xavier School Nuvali, SolX Technologies, and the Sta. Rosa local government exemplifies the power of partnerships between the public, private, and educational sectors in driving sustainable energy adoption. Xavier School’s vision for a greener future serves as an inspiration for other institutions, demonstrating that strong leadership in sustainability can create a lasting positive impact on the environment and future generations.
Looking forward, SolX Technologies and Xavier School are preparing to celebrate the full turnover and Switch-On Ceremony for a 380kWp solar system at Xavier School San Juan, further solidifying their commitment to sustainability and clean energy adoption nationwide.
