DPWH accelerates construction of Tarrag-Caramuangen road in Pagudpud

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking the development of the 3.77-kilometer Tarrag-Caramuangen Road in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, a project designed to boost local tourism and stimulate economic growth in the region.

In an update to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan revealed that the P96.49-million infrastructure project includes a 15-meter bridge, spanning across Barangay Tarrag and Barangay Dampig. The road aims to improve connectivity, providing safer and more convenient access for both residents and visitors.

Once completed, the Tarrag-Caramuangen Road will significantly enhance access to Darna Falls, a popular tourist destination located in the northeastern part of San Isidro Village in Dumalneg town.

Initiated by the DPWH Ilocos Norte 1st District Engineering Office, the project is already 56 percent complete and is on track for full completion by the second quarter of 2025.

Funded under the 2024 national budget, this tourism-driven road project is set to improve transportation efficiency, drive local economic development, and elevate the overall quality of life for the community.
