DTI welcomes Omega GTI’s expansion in the Philippines

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) proudly welcomed Omega Global Technologies, Inc. (Omega GTI)’s regional office expansion in the Philippines, a milestone facilitated by the DTI’s Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Silicon Valley (PTIC-SV).

This significant development highlights the growth of the Silicon Valley-based company, renowned for its comprehensive fourth-party logistics (4PL) supply chain solutions specializing in the global semiconductor and electronics sectors. The expansion reinforces the government’s commitment to positioning the Philippines as a competitive player in the global electronics value chain.

Omega GTI, a leader in supply chain solutions for the semiconductor and electronics industries, operates a cutting-edge laboratory equipped to test electronic components for authenticity and quality assurance. This capability underscores the company’s dedication to ensuring the highest standards in its services.

DTI-Foreign Trade Service Corps’ Assistant Secretary Alma Argayoso and DTI Region IV-A Regional Director Marissa Argente were present at the opening and networking reception for Omega GTI Asia, Inc.’s expansion. During the event, they emphasized the profound impact this initiative will have on local manufacturing, including the creation of high-value jobs and fostering innovation in the electronics sector.

Kristine Umali, Trade Commissioner of PTIC-SV, remarked, “Omega GTI’s expansion in the Philippines signifies a major boost to the country’s logistics and supply chain capabilities, solidifying its role as a strategic hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. It also opens doors for deeper collaborations between Silicon Valley and the Philippines, driving innovation and investment opportunities.”

Omega GTI President Zedric Ochoa echoed these sentiments in his address, saying, “Our decision to expand in the Philippines was a strategic one. The country boasts exceptional talent, a strong work ethic, and a spirit of perseverance that perfectly aligns with Omega GTI’s vision.”

Jayson Alfonso, Executive Vice President of Omega GTI Asia, Inc., further emphasized the company’s ambition to attract more Silicon Valley investments to the Philippines. “This is just the beginning. We are committed to strengthening partnerships that foster innovation, generate employment, and elevate the Philippines’ position in the global electronics and technology industries.”

The electronics industry remains a cornerstone of Philippine exports, driven by the government’s investor-friendly policies, robust infrastructure development, and highly skilled workforce. These advantages are bolstered by the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act (CREATE), which was signed into law in February. This landmark legislation refines implementation guidelines, addresses investor concerns, and clarifies VAT zero-rating certificate eligibility and coverage.

DTI remains steadfast in its commitment to creating opportunities by forging strong partnerships with foreign investors and leveraging strategic initiatives to reinforce the Philippines’ role in the global electronics supply chain.
