MRT-3 to extend weekday hours following successful pilot run

Following strong public support and the directive of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will permanently extend its weekday operating hours, providing greater comfort and saving commuters valuable time.

The decision comes after a successful two-week pilot implementation, during which the extended service hours benefited a total of 61,004 passengers. From March 24 to 28, the MRT-3 served an additional 29,530 commuters, and from March 31 to April 4, another 31,474 passengers took advantage of the extended hours.

Alongside the extended schedule, the MRT-3 will continue deploying an additional train set during rush hours to further ease congestion and improve the overall commuting experience.

These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to better serve the riding public—particularly evening shift workers and those with late-night commutes.

Under the updated schedule, the last weekday trips are extended by one hour: from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM at North Avenue Station, and from 10:09 PM to 11:09 PM at Taft Avenue Station.

The MRT-3 management assures the public of its continued commitment to improving service reliability and commuter convenience.
