Valenzuela City is set to experience improved traffic flow as the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and NLEX Corporation, in partnership with government agencies, officially inaugurated the new NLEX Lingunan Southbound Entry ramp.
Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian, Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) Regulation Division Chief Joz Carlos Ordillano, and NLEX Officer-in-Charge and MPTC Chief Finance Officer Luis Reñon led the ceremonial drive-thru of the newly completed 491-meter-long, one-lane entry ramp.
Slated to open this April, the new access point is expected to significantly ease congestion at the often-overcrowded Valenzuela/Paso de Blas Interchange—where multiple local roads converge. The ramp will benefit motorists from nearby barangays including Lawang Bato, Lingunan, Punturin, Canumay East, and Canumay West.
“This development is aimed at providing relief for motorists and supporting businesses by facilitating the faster movement of goods and services,” said Reñon. “Valenzuela has built a reputation as a rising industrial and commercial hub. We are committed to expanding and enhancing our network through more entry and exit ramps like this, to decongest not just NLEX but also adjacent cities and municipalities.”
Reñon also highlighted that the project was completed in just four months—one month ahead of the original five-month schedule—thanks to the efficiency of the NLEX team. The ramp project was a joint effort between NLEX and the City Government of Valenzuela, with the support of the Toll Regulatory Board.
Mayor Gatchalian expressed his appreciation to MPTC Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, NLEX Corporation, and the TRB for their collaboration.
“I would like to thank MVP, the leadership of NLEX, and the Toll Regulatory Board for partnering with us on this project,” said Gatchalian. “With the opening of this new ramp, motorists in Valenzuela will now have a faster, more convenient alternative route.”
Throughout the construction phase, NLEX implemented its standard traffic management measures to ensure the safety and convenience of motorists.
The Lingunan Southbound Entry becomes the fifth expressway access point for Valenzuela City, joining existing entries at Karuhatan, Mindanao Avenue, Paso de Blas, and Lawang Bato.
