The Thailand Immigration Bureau has announced a significant shift towards digital processes, requiring all non-Thai nationals to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entering the Kingdom, effective May 1, 2025.
This new regulation mandates the completion of the TDAC for all foreign passport holders seeking entry into Thailand. This includes tourists eager to explore the country’s vibrant culture, business travelers attending crucial meetings, and long-term residents returning to their homes.
Crucially, there are limited exceptions to this requirement. Travellers who remain in transit or transfer through Thailand without passing through immigration checkpoints are exempt. Additionally, individuals entering Thailand using a valid Border Pass will not be required to complete the TDAC.
The introduction of the TDAC marks a move away from the traditional paper-based arrival card. This digital system is designed to streamline immigration procedures, leading to faster processing times for visitors and residents alike. Furthermore, the initiative aims to reduce the environmental impact associated with paper usage and enhance overall border security. Travellers will be pleased to know that the usage of the TDAC is entirely free of charge.
