Drewry expands global coverage of Container Freight Rate Insight with 5,500 new lanes

Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the ocean freight benchmarking and procurement support arm of Drewry Shipping Consultants, has significantly expanded the global lane coverage of its flagship service, Container Freight Rate Insight (CFRI). Effective 30 April, the service will include 5,500 additional port pairs across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa.

This milestone is the result of an 18-month data sourcing and development initiative aimed at deepening insights into global container shipping markets. With this major expansion, CFRI now offers shippers, carriers, and logistics providers broader and more detailed visibility into spot market rates, helping them make more informed procurement and budgeting decisions.

“This major enhancement reflects Drewry’s ongoing commitment to providing the most comprehensive, accurate, and actionable freight rate intelligence available,” said Philip Damas, Managing Director of Drewry and Head of Supply Chain Advisors.

“In today’s volatile and unpredictable freight environment, logistics and procurement teams are under increasing pressure,” Damas continued. “With this expansion, we’re empowering our clients with the data and transparency they need to strengthen their negotiation position and control costs.”

Key Benefits for CFRI Subscribers:

  • Expanded Global Coverage: 5,500 new lanes added, with a focus on regional and north-south trades (effective 30 April)

  • Enhanced Market Transparency: Deeper data to inform freight procurement strategies

  • More Frequent Updates: Additional trade lanes will receive fortnightly spot rate updates starting in May

CFRI is delivered via Drewry’s Container Freight Portal—a comprehensive cloud-based platform that integrates all of Drewry’s ocean and air freight benchmarking tools. In addition to CFRI, the portal also hosts the Benchmarking Club (a shipper-only contract rate intelligence service with over 120 member brands) and Container Capacity Insight, which tracks weekly developments in capacity, blank sailings, and port congestion.
