German medtech, digital health companies explore opportunities in Philippines

German medical technology and digital health innovators are actively eyeing the Philippines for strategic partnerships and business expansion, according to the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI).
On May 6, 2025, the GPCCI hosted the the German-Philippine Conference on Medical Technology and Digital Health at Shangri-La Makati, in collaboration with the Medical Device Association of the Philippines (MDAP), the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PHAPi), and the Healthcare Technology Association of the Philippines (HTAP).
“Digital health and medical technology are powerful enablers for healthcare transformation,” said Charlotte Bandelow, GPCCI Deputy Executive Director. “We are proud to provide a platform where German innovation and Philippine healthcare priorities can meet. We arranged around 50 B2B meetings to initiate concrete cooperation.”
Healthcare collaboration
 
The conference was part of a broader German business mission focused on fostering collaboration in the fields of medical devices, diagnostics, health IT, and digital health innovation. Around 70 stakeholders — including industry leaders, regulatory experts, and public sector representatives — participated in high-level panel discussions, market briefings, and targeted business matchmaking sessions.
The event also featured a keynote address by Dr. Luis Ramon Rodriguez, President of the Medical Device Association of the Philippines, who spoke on the current landscape, emerging opportunities, and strategic pathways for the medical device industry in the country. His presentation highlighted key investment prospects in digital health and AI integration, as well as opportunities in original equipment manufacturing (OEM), assembly, and local production.

Participating companies include 3di GmbH, Clinaris GmbH, fracto GERDES GBR,  INOSOLVE GmbH kimetec GmbH Oehm und Rehbein GmbH (OR Technology), VISUS Health IT GmbH and Bavarian Institute for Age- and Dementia-sensitive Architecture (BIfadA).

“We see tremendous potential for German companies to contribute to the Philippine healthcare system, particularly in diagnostics, telehealth, and hospital technology,” said Marie Antoniette Mariano, GPCCI President. “This mission reflects Germany’s commitment to building lasting partnerships in sectors with real impact.”
 
The event was attended by key representatives from local hospitals, healthcare distributors, government agencies, and technology providers, reinforcing the shared interest in driving healthcare innovation and accessibility.
This conference was part of a week-long business delegation to the Philippines from May 5-9, 2025, involving German SMEs in medical technology and digital health. The project was implemented by GPCCI in cooperation with the German Health Alliance under the Market Access Program for SMEs, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
