Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon conducted a comprehensive inspection today at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), reinforcing the government’s commitment to maintaining international safety and operational standards at one of the country’s busiest aviation hubs.
Secretary Dizon personally reviewed key airport facilities, including the arrival and departure areas, immigration e-gates, security bollards, and the airport’s traffic and passenger drop-off flow. The inspection aimed to ensure MCIA’s compliance with global safety protocols and to further enhance passenger convenience and efficiency.
“MCIA is a vital gateway to the Visayas region and a reflection of our nation’s progress in aviation,” said Secretary Dizon. “We are committed to upholding world-class safety and service standards to meet the growing demands of air travel and tourism.”
This visit follows a major milestone for MCIA, which was recently named Best Airport in Asia-Pacific in the 5–15 Million Passengers Per Annum Category at the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards last March. The recognition, presented by Airports Council International, highlights MCIA’s continued dedication to service excellence and superior passenger experience.
Operated by GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation, MCIA has consistently ranked among the top airports in the region for its innovative infrastructure, responsive customer service, and adherence to international standards.
The Department of Transportation reaffirms its full support for MCIA’s mission to deliver world-class airport services and ensure the safety and comfort of every traveler.
