The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has implemented heightened security measures starting today, May 9, in anticipation of a significant increase in passenger traffic related to the upcoming 2025 Elections.
With a surge of travelers expected to return home or travel for election-related activities, MRT-3 management has prioritized the safety and security of its passengers. Security personnel are actively maintaining order and vigilance throughout all stations.
To further ensure passenger safety, local police units have been deployed and are stationed at help desks, readily available to address any security concerns or provide assistance. Additionally, K-9 units from the MRT-3 and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) are on site, providing an extra layer of security against potential bomb threats.
The MRT-3 is currently operating with 19 train sets during peak hours, ensuring sufficient capacity to accommodate the increased number of travelers.
The MRT-3 management said that the safety and security of the passengers is their utmost priority, and also working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure a smooth and secure travel experience for everyone during this crucial period.
Passengers are advised to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity to security personnel or local police, and cooperate with all security measures in place.
The MRT-3 recorded its highest ridership since the pandemic on April 30, the first day of the Libreng Sakay, with a total of 481,156 passengers taking advantage of the free rides.
