Indonesian Consul General Agus Trenggono, on Tuesday, conducted an official visit and inspection of the Pagadian Port in Zamboanga. The visit was undertaken to assess the port’s facilities and capabilities as a key component of ongoing initiatives under the Brunei–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).
Consul General Trenggono’s inspection is part of the continuous collaborative efforts among neighboring countries in the region aimed at fostering enhanced connectivity, boosting trade, and promoting tourism within the BIMP-EAGA member areas.
The BIMP-EAGA initiative is a cooperation framework designed to accelerate economic development in the sub-region, focusing on areas like infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and tourism promotion. The assessment of critical infrastructure such as the Pagadian Port is vital to identifying potential improvements and leveraging existing capacities to achieve the goals of the regional economic bloc.
The visit underscores the commitment of Indonesia and other BIMP-EAGA member countries to strengthen regional integration and unlock the full economic potential of the East ASEAN Growth Area.
