Bridging Innovation and Integrity: Charting the Path for Equitable AI

The Philippine government continues to support initiatives that improve the country’s digitalization and prepare the nation for AI development.  The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) recently announced that the National Innovation Council (NIC) approved the creation of a technical group composed of industry, academe, and government experts and leaders that will conduct a comprehensive study on the capabilities, ecosystems, and future applications of AI.  The establishment of a new think tank that innovates AI policy in the Philippines is a much-anticipated progression for the country, as it synergizes with the government’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Roadmap.

It is in this context that the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and its ICT Committee are organizing the second AI Forum to provide updates on AI policy developments in the Philippines and the region.  Moreover, this forum seeks to discuss key ethical considerations as AI increasingly becomes integrated into the core of our social and economic realities, such as in education, in business, and in the path to inclusive development.  This session serves as a platform for dialogue between key stakeholders from government, industry leaders, NGOs, and the academe, with the intention of advancing responsible governance of emergent technologies.
