DMW Sec. Cacdac visits OFW hospital, extends compassionate aid to ailing OFWs

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac personally visited patients at the OFW Hospital in San Fernando City, Pampanga, today, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families. The visit aimed to uplift the spirits of confined OFWs and assure them of the government’s full support during their medical struggles.

Among those personally greeted by Secretary Cacdac was Madelen P. Watemar, an OFW from Hong Kong, who is bravely battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer. The DMW promptly extended crucial financial assistance to Ms. Watemar through the ACTION Fund and pledged ongoing support for her additional medical needs. In a further demonstration of compassionate care, Secretary Cacdac also committed to providing a scholarship for Madelen’s child’s education, easing the family’s burden during this challenging time.

The Secretary’s visit also saw assistance granted to another OFW diagnosed with colon cancer, along with five other OFWs facing various medical conditions. This initiative underscores the DMW’s dedication to providing comprehensive support to all OFWs requiring medical intervention.

Secretary Cacdac reiterated the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to prioritize the welfare of Filipino workers abroad, encouraging all OFWs and their families suffering from illnesses to utilize the dedicated services of the OFW Hospital. “This hospital was established precisely for you, our modern-day heroes,” Secretary Cacdac stated. “We want to ensure that you receive the medical attention and support you deserve, strengthening your resolve as you face health challenges.”

The OFW Hospital stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare for OFWs, ensuring that they and their families receive “medical service with a heart.”
