President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conducted an aerial inspection of vulnerable communities in Bulacan and Pampanga heavily impacted by severe flooding from recent typhoons and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
The aerial survey allowed the Chief Executive to personally assess the true scale of the inundation and evaluate the condition of affected residents. The inspection serves to guide the immediate delivery of government relief and humanitarian support, while laying the groundwork for sustainable, long-term engineering interventions.
In alignment with President Marcos’s direct instructions to personally evaluate the situation and identify permanent solutions, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and Cabinet Secretary Benhur Abalos traveled directly to the hardest-hit localities.
To experience firsthand the severe challenges faced by communities submerged in floodwaters for extended periods, the two Cabinet officials sailed from Paombong to Hagonoy, Bulacan. The deployment was a direct response to urgent appeals from Bulacan residents calling on national leadership to witness the prolonged hardships caused by chronic inundation.
During the assessment, Secretary Dizon announced that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is actively formulating long-term structural interventions for Bulacan. The initiative focuses on developing a comprehensive, multi-agency master plan designed to resolve the province’s decades-long vulnerability to severe flooding.
The Marcos administration remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting vulnerable populations, ensuring that both immediate humanitarian aid and robust infrastructure projects are expedited to safeguard communities across Central Luzon.
