Any credit and debit cards now accepted in MRT-3

Passengers can now use any debit and credit cards to pay for their MRT-3 fare. Simply tap your card at the newly installed contactless payment terminals located at the station turnstiles to enter and exit.

If your card still uses an older EMV chip and isn’t working, you may coordinate with your respective banks for replacement to enjoy the hassle-free cashless payment options when riding the train.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the integrated payment setup is the first of its kind in the world with no additional cost to the train passengers. There is no need also to line up at the ticket counter to buy single journey tickets because passengers may just go direct to the turnstiles to pay using the cashless option.

The launch of the new payment mode is in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Information, Communication and Technology, Landbank, G-Cash, VISA, and KentKart, Dizon said.

The same cashless payment option will be implemented at LRT-1, LRT-2 in the coming months in partnership with RCBC.
