President Marcos Jr. arrives in India for state visit

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived in New Delhi on Monday afternoon to commence a five-day State Visit to the Republic of India. This event caps the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The President and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos were welcomed at the Palam Air Force Station by Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, Philippine Ambassador to India Josel F. Ignacio, and other officials from both nations.

Scheduled from August 4 to 8, the visit is expected to open new chapters in bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including maritime security, defense, trade and investment, health and pharmaceuticals, digital innovation, agriculture, and tourism.

During his visit, President Marcos will meet with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will also lead a series of high-level business engagements in New Delhi and Bengaluru to boost partnerships and encourage greater participation of Indian firms in the Philippine economy.

The President is accompanied by several Cabinet members and a high-level business delegation. The visit is anticipated to yield concrete agreements and renewed commitments that will further enhance the robust partnership between the Philippines and India.
