The Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) of the Department of Trade and Industry is planning to set up a supply chain and logistics center at the heart of Taytay, Rizal in partnership with the local government unit to support its promotion as the garment capital of the Philippines.
Trade and industry Undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco, head of the SCLG group, said this at the opening of “Shop Taytay”, a trade fair featuring the local products of the province, particularly locally made garments.
Pacheco said there are over 5,000 business owners and 25,000 stalls in Taytay, mostly engaged in garment manufacturing. Pacheco said that SCLG is providing support to the promotion of Taytay as garment capital of the country being a source of very reasonably priced garments. The local government of Taytay is responsible for the establishment of a trade center, said Pacheco.
Taytay, Rizal is known as a hub for cheap garments and is often called the “Garments Capital of the Philippines” due to its abundant and affordable clothing.
It is teeming with various shopping centers and markets like the Taytay Tiangge offering a wide range of styles. It’s a popular destination for budget-conscious shoppers seeking quality and stylish clothing, where items can be even cheaper than at other bargain haunts like Divisoria and Greenhills.
