Philippine Airlines (PAL) is rolling out its newly refurbished Airbus A321ceo aircraft, featuring a modern cabin design, upgraded seating, and state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment. The retrofitting program, which will cover 18 aircraft by 2027, marks a significant step in the flag carrier’s commitment to enhancing its regional fleet and improving the passenger experience across its ASEAN, Greater China, Japan, South Korea, and Guam networks.
PAL has officially accepted the first of the 18 refurbished A321ceos, with registry number RP-C9905, following the comprehensive retrofit program conducted at the Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) facility in Manila. The newly configured aircraft will accommodate 194 passengers in a dual-class layout, featuring 12 Business Class and 182 Economy Class seats.
The refreshed cabin introduces a new level of comfort and functionality. The Business Class section, configured in a 2-2 layout, provides increased space and privacy, with each seat offering an in-seat power supply, a USB-A port, and a 13.3-inch embedded in-flight entertainment (IFE) screen for a more immersive viewing experience.
In the Economy Class, passengers can enjoy the highly popular Collins Pinnacle seats in a 3-3 layout, each with a 10.1-inch IFE screen and a convenient USB-A port for device charging. A highlight of this project is that these Collins Pinnacle seats were manufactured by Filipino workers at the Collins factory in Batangas, a first for any local airline.
PAL Vice President for Marketing Alvin Miranda emphasized the significance of this project, stating, “This cabin retrofit program reflects PAL’s vision of world-class excellence and heartfelt care. At the core of this undertaking is the dedicated craftsmanship showcased by Filipino workers in the manufacture of aircraft seats and the reconfiguration of the cabin in the Philippines.”
The reconfigured A321ceos are scheduled to fly on key routes to Tokyo (Haneda and Narita), Osaka, Jakarta, Bali, and Guam this year, with more Asian destinations to follow next year.
