Manila Water Company, Inc. said its board of directors has ratified the purchase of 500,000 common shares at PHP35.20 apiece, for an aggregate consideration of approximately PHP17.6 million, under the water utility’s ongoing share buy-back program.
In a disclosure letter dated August 25, 2026 and signed by Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary Amabelle C. Asuncion, addressed to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Philippine Stock Exchange, the company said the board also authorized Chief Finance Officer and Treasurer Gigi Iluminada Miguel to carry out further share purchases “at such prices determined to be advantageous to the Company and its shareholders.”
The transaction is the latest tranche under a buy-back program the Manila Water board approved on August 14, 2026, which allows the company to repurchase up to 3 million common shares in the open market for an aggregate amount of up to PHP105 million, or roughly 1 percent of its outstanding common shares. The company intends the program to provide flexibility in acquiring shares to support its Stock Incentive Program.
The PHP35.20 buy-back price sits just below Manila Water’s recent trading levels. Shares of the company, traded on the Philippine Stock Exchange under the ticker MWC, closed at PHP35.60 on August 25, 2026, slightly lower than the previous session’s close of PHP35.70. The stock has traded in a 52-week range spanning roughly the low-PHP30s to mid-PHP40s over the past year, according to market data trackers. The company is owned by Manila Water is owned by Filipino billionaire Enrique Razon Jr., through his investment vehicle, Trident Water Holdings Company, Inc.
Manila Water is one of two private concessionaires operating under the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, providing water and wastewater services to Metro Manila’s East Zone and other franchise areas in the Philippines.
Per the company’s latest SEC cover sheet filing, Manila Water had 2,607,760,172 common shares and 3,563,756,068 preferred shares outstanding, excluding treasury shares, held by 858 stockholders as of the filing date, with total borrowings of PHP161.56 billion in bank loans and bonds as of June 30, 2026.
