Philippine National Railways (PNR) General Manager Deovanni S. Miranda delivered a compelling address at the 3rd Philippine Railway Conference on Tuesday, September 23, sharing his vision for the modernization of the nation’s rail system.
Miranda brought his expertise in innovation, good governance, and public service to the platform, aligning the PNR’s development initiatives with national goals.
Modernizing PNR for Filipino Commuters
Speaking under the conference theme, “Advancing Resilient and Smart Rail Operation and Maintenance for Sustainability of the Philippine Railway System,” GM Miranda provided an update on the PNR’s current operations and its ambitious development agenda.
His discussion focused on ongoing railway projects specifically designed to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the PNR line.
GM Miranda emphasized that these initiatives are not just about infrastructure; they are fundamentally about improving the lives of Filipinos and giving back their time through efficient, reliable transportation.
This human-centric approach is in direct response to the directives of President Marcos to prioritize public service and efficiency.
The prestigious conference was hosted by the Philippine Railways Institute (PRI), led by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary and PRI Executive Director Usec. Anneli R. Lontoc, CESO I.
The PRI organized the event in collaboration with key international and local partners, including the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP).
The event also featured a series of keynote speeches and panel discussions dedicated to various aspects of railway workforce development in the country.
