OMNI Aviation concluded a vital training program for the region’s leading aviation and logistics professionals, focusing on the new IATA Dangerous Goods Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) standards.
The program, held at OMNI Aviation’s state-of-the-art facility, gathered participants from a diverse and influential group of industry stakeholders, underscoring a unified commitment to safety and regulatory excellence in cargo operations. The comprehensive course is designed to equip professionals with the necessary skills and competence to safely and effectively manage the complex regulations surrounding the transport of hazardous materials by air.
Industry-Wide Commitment to Safety and Compliance
The training session was distinguished by the attendance of key personnel from a broad spectrum of the supply chain, including international express freight carriers, local passenger airlines, airport services, and major electronics manufacturers.
Key Participating Organizations:
FedEx (International Freight)
SEAIR (Airline Operations)
Asurion (Electronics & Logistics)
ADE-Air Asia (Airline Maintenance & Engineering)
Murata (Electronics Manufacturing)
Clark Airport Support Services Corp. (CASSC)
Leading Edge Air Services Corporation (LEASCOR)
CARGOHAUS Cebu
Credibility and adherence to the highest standards were paramount, as the training was conducted under the direct supervision of a Dangerous Goods Inspector from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). The Inspector’s presence ensured the training met all national and international regulatory requirements, providing attendees with a government-validated certification of competence.
The Shift to CBTA
The adoption of the IATA CBTA framework represents a significant evolution from traditional time-based training. CBTA focuses on measurable competencies, ensuring that personnel are not just trained, but demonstrably capable of performing their duties related to dangerous goods handling, mitigating risks more effectively in real-world scenarios.
“The transport of dangerous goods is a critical and non-negotiable aspect of air logistics, especially in a dynamic and growing market like ours,” said a spokesperson for OMNI Aviation. “Hosting this CBTA program, with direct CAAP oversight and participation from industry leaders like FedEx and Murata, validates our commitment to setting the highest regional benchmark for safety and operational excellence. This collective effort ensures that the entire supply chain moves forward with a standardized, competency-driven approach to safety.”
OMNI Aviation remains dedicated to providing specialized, regulatory-compliant training that supports the safe and efficient growth of the Philippine and Southeast Asian aviation sectors.
