Reaffirming its role as a leader in sustainable development, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) presented the agency’s green initiatives and best practices during the Building Green Conference 2025, underscoring its commitment to future-ready infrastructure.
The conference was hosted by the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) at Clark Marriott, Pampanga on 24-26 September 2025, which brought together leaders from both the public and private sectors to share insights and inspire bold climate action, paving the way for sustainable and inclusive urban development.
BCDA Public Affairs Vice President Leilani B. Macasaet delivered a keynote speech, stressing the importance of collective leadership in accelerating green development and building livable cities for generations to come.
“We are especially elated that PHILGBC chose Clark as the host venue for this conference. Clark is a beacon of sustainability, setting the standard for green and future-ready developments in the country. We firmly believe that this is a prime example of what PHILGBC strives for,” Macasaet said.
Meanwhile, PHILGBC Chairperson Raymond Rufino said Clark and the broader Central Luzon region are positioned for green development following rapid urbanization which presents a critical opportunity to embed sustainability into infrastructure and the built environment before unsustainable patterns take root.
“As a priority investment area, the region still allows for master-planned districts and communities that can prioritize green building, low-carbon design, and nature-based solutions,” Chairman Rufino said during his speech.
“Building Green [Conference] in Clark can raise awareness, influence development, and accelerate green building adoption in the region,” he added.
Likewise, Engr. Jules O. Aficial presented key efforts of BCDA to develop environmentally responsible infrastructure in its properties.
“We are aiming not just for excellence and profitability, but for sustainability as well,” he said.
The BCDA also hosted a tour for 51 delegates from various sectors with an exclusive look at sustainable building and design in BCDA’s properties
The tour set off at New Clark City in which participants explored the state-of-the-art Aquatics Center, which includes a 10-lane competition pool, an eight-lane training pool, and a diving pool. The group also visited the impressive 20,000-seat Athletics Stadium, highlighting its sustainable features.
The event concluded with a stop at Clark International Airport—the only Philippine airport with EDGE certification—where attendees learned about its diverse sustainable features and modern, eco-friendly design.
The PHILGBC is an organization composed of building industry leaders from all sectors dedicated to promoting buildings, districts and cities that are environmentally responsible, profitable, safe and healthy places to live, work and play.
