Manila North Harbour Port, Inc. (MNHPI/NorthPort) announced the commencement of a comprehensive Structural Upgrade Program, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, disaster resilience, and maintaining continuous, reliable operations as a critical hub for national trade and logistics.
The multi-year initiative, detailed in a public notice issued by NorthPort, is a cornerstone of the company’s long-term strategy. Its primary goal is to enhance the resilience and disaster-readiness of the port facilities to safeguard critical infrastructure and prevent supply chain disruptions that could impact the Philippine economy and commerce.
“As a vital gateway for national trade, our responsibility extends beyond mere efficiency—it includes an unwavering commitment to safety and resilience,” said a NorthPort representative. “This program is a proactive investment in the country’s economic stability, ensuring that NorthPort can withstand future challenges and continue its role as a reliable partner in the supply chain.”
The program’s scope includes structural reinforcement, preventive repairs, and regulatory compliance work to ensure the port meets the highest safety standards in the country.
Operational Adjustments During the Upgrade
The Structural Upgrade Program is expected to last three years. To ensure the safety of personnel and maintain operational continuity throughout this period, NorthPort will implement temporary operational adjustments, including:
- Changes to vessel berthing arrangements
- Temporary retirement of some operations in Terminal 2
NorthPort is committed to minimizing the impact of these adjustments on its partners and stakeholders and will be providing continuous updates regarding specific changes.
