The Department of Tourism (DOT) today announced immediate efforts to assist communities and tourism workers in the Davao Region following the recent earthquake, confirming the temporary suspension of eight major tourist destinations for safety assessment.
The DOT has identified 349 affected tourism workers, primarily from resorts and accommodations. Their list has been immediately endorsed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure they receive crucial, immediate assistance and support.
“Our thoughts are with the communities in Davao Region affected by the recent earthquake as we continue to closely monitor the situation together with our DOT Region XI team and local government units,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco.
Initial assessments, as of 2:00 PM today, indicate seven destinations and accommodations have been reported affected—six in Baganga, Davao Oriental, and one in Samal Island—all of which are undergoing thorough structural assessment. Crucially, no tourists have been reported affected.
For the safety of the public and tourism workers, the following tourism activities and sites are temporarily suspended until further notice:

- Mt. Hamiguitan Museum Visit
- Cape San Agustin Visit
- Subangan Museum Visit
- Pusan Point Visit

The Department assures all stakeholders and communities that it remains in full coordination with national and local authorities to assist affected workers and help restore tourism operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
