President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the launch of a transformative infrastructure initiative, the Toll Collection System Interoperability Project, widely known as ‘One RFID, All Tollways.’ This landmark program, inaugurated at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Toll Operation Building, is set to drastically simplify cross-border travel and alleviate congestion across Luzon’s major expressways.
The ‘One RFID, All Tollways’ project is a monumental leap toward a unified national toll system, allowing motorists who utilize multiple expressways to consolidate their experience under a single, interoperable RFID tag and account. This eliminates the historical inconvenience of managing separate tags, maintaining distinct wallets, and navigating multiple systems at toll plazas.
During the launch event, President Marcos Jr. personally observed the simplified online registration process at the kiosks of RFID service providers, Autosweep and Easytrip. He also witnessed a key step for early adopters: the simultaneous removal of unneeded RFID stickers from vehicles previously equipped with two tags, ensuring only one unified device remains per vehicle. This voluntary registration process allows existing subscribers to unify their experience while retaining their current account standing.
The President emphasized the project’s critical role in boosting economic productivity and improving the daily lives of Filipino commuters. “This is more than just a technical upgrade; it is a fundamental improvement in how we connect our major economic centers. Reduced congestion means faster movement of goods and services, and more precious time back in the hands of our people,” the President stated.
The successful launch is the culmination of an extensive, multi-year development and rigorous testing program. Initial testing cycles commenced in December 2023, with a dedicated focus on ensuring transaction integrity, accurate real-time balance updating, and seamless inter-system communication across all participating toll roads. This meticulous preparation guarantees reliable and immediate adoption for all motorists.
The ‘One RFID, All Tollways’ project is now fully operational, marking a new milestone in the government’s commitment to modern, efficient, and user-friendly transport infrastructure.
