DTI implements immediate price freeze on basic necessities following national calamity declaration

Following the approval of the declaration of a State of National Calamity by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in its capacity as Chair of the National Price Coordinating Council (NPCC), has immediately implemented an automatic price freeze on all basic necessities.

The price freeze takes effect immediately and is mandated to remain in force for a period of sixty (60) days, or until the President officially lifts the State of National Calamity declaration, whichever comes first. This action ensures the stability of prices for essential goods during this critical recovery and relief period.

The DTI has coordinated closely with all key NPCC implementing agencies to protect consumers and prevent profiteering nationwide.

Furthermore, the DTI reassures the public that it is working round-the-clock with manufacturers, retailers, and distributors to ensure a sufficient and steady stock of all basic necessities and prime commodities.

All DTI Regional and Provincial Offices have been placed on heightened alert and fully mobilized to strictly enforce compliance with the price freeze and maintain adequate supply across the entire country. The public is urged to report any instances of price manipulation or hoarding to the nearest DTI office.
